A complaint has been registered against a youth who lured his maternal uncle’s daughter (mama ki beti) for marriage and took her to a hotel in Vadodara and raped her after mixing an intoxicant in the drink. The victim alleged in the complaint that when her brother and sister-in-law came to Vadodara to asked about the marriage, the accused refused and said he will not marry the victim. Gotri police have registered a case based on the victim’s complaint and initiated legal action in the matter.
As per the details of the complaint lodged at the Vadodara Gotri Police Station after being transferred from the Delhi Police Station states, the girl was visiting her Aunt (Foi/Bua) in the Vadodara Gotri area in March 2021. The girl was married and had met her aunt’s son and they were acquainted with each other. However, there was a rift between the girl and her husband and the two wanted to separate from each other.
Accused Anil was aware of the differences between the girl and her husband and taking advantage of that he lured the girl to a hotel in Vadodara after promising to marry her and physically abused her after mixing an intoxicant in the drink. When she came to her senses she shouted and Anil covered her mouth and said, “If you tell this to anyone, I will die.” He promised to marry her and told her to go to Delhi and seek divorce from her husband. After going home, Anil’s mother told the girl that he will marry her and asked her to go back to Delhi.
Anil went to Delhi to drop the girl and told her parents that he will marry her after she divorces her husband. As he had shown readiness to get married, the victim got divorced from her husband. However, to her shock, Anil refused to get married when the victim’s brother and sister-in-law came to Vadodara to persuade Anil and his family.
In addition, Anil’s mother told the girl’s brother and sister-in-law that Anil had made a mistake and she is willing to give as much money as they need, but he will not marry her.
A police complaint was lodged in Delhi against Anil, who refused to marry her after physically abusing her and luring her for marriage. A complaint was lodged at the Gotri Police Station in Vadodara after the case was transferred from Delhi. Police have registered a case against Anil on the basis of the complaint and are further investigating.
