Con men posing as police apprehended, blackmailed to trap in a rape case

A group of con-men who were posing as police has been apprehended, blackmailed to trap in a rape case . Two of the accused of a gang of five, named Salim Sheikh and Dawood Ghachi have been caught while the other three members are on the run.

The five had concocted a scheme where they would pose as police and extract money out of people. On 4th February, one of the accused, a woman, hitch-hicked a lift from a man on a scooter near Ajwa Nimeta gardens.

After that, the other four posed as the police a little ahead on the road, stopped him, and asked the victim what he was doing with the girl. They managed to extract Rs 1,66,500 from the victim on the pretext of putting a false rape charge on him.

On 7th February, they asked for more money but two of the accused were caught by the police.
