Cong Councilor detained for her symbolic fasting

Ami Rawat, Congress Councilor from Vadodara was detained by the police after she sat for a symbolic fast as a mark of protest, in the pouring rain, outside the Corporation Office on Friday.

She sat in protest and put allegations of corruption and misconduct on Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan (VMSS), in the name of Smart City for the last five years. She alleged that nothing has been developed in the city in the last 5 years. At the General Meeting of the Corporation, not a single question had been answered related to people’s development. In the name of big projects and area-based development, there has only been corruption.

She further mentioned that for the last eight months when questions were raised regarding development-oriented projects, the ruling party avoided giving answers. She said that the BJP came to power by showing dreams of a smart city. But in the last five years, 20 lakh people of Vadodara have been fooled in the name of a smart city.

She said that 500 crore projects were to be done in the station area and 1,800 crore projects were to be done in Vadodara. But only Rs 5.50 crore road project and Rs 65 lakh wall have been constructed. The Street Vendor Policy has also not been implemented and the main reason is corruption. She added that she regrets being a member of the board of the corporation.

She said she will continue her fight against corruption.
