In order to control crime in Vadodara, the city police have set up CCTV cameras on the main roads. E-memos are being issued by the traffic branch to drivers for violating traffic rules. Currently, as masks have been made mandatory in the pandemic, drivers without masks are being given e-memos and fined Rs 1,000. But, there are cases of haphazard e-memos that are being issued came.
Darshana Patel is involved in the travel business and has a black Activa. On 21st August 2020, she was passing by Sardar Mandir School, Karelibaug Police Station area on her Activa. Meanwhile, she received an e-memo sent by the police for not wearing a mask and a fine of Rs 1000 was imposed. She was shocked to see the e-memo, as ever since the announcement of wearing a mask has been made compulsory, not a single day did she or her husband step out without a mask.
When Chirag Patel, husband of Darshana Patel informed the traffic branch about the e-memo, it was revealed that the same number is registered for a White Activa too. Instead of issuing the e-memo against the minor driving the white Activa with the same registration number, the traffic branch had sent an e-memo in the name of Darshanaben Chiragbhai Patel. The e-memo also had a photo of the minor driving the white Activa.
Annoyed by this serious chaos of the traffic branch, Chirag Patel is planning to lodge a police complaint regarding the same registration of two vehicles operating in the city. He demanded an inquiry in the matter so as such problems do not arise in the future.
