To prevent the spread of Coronavirus, the installation of Ganpati idols on public roads has been banned. Ganesh Mandals also have been asked to install idols at their home. P.I VR Vaniya has given instructions through a loudspeaker in various areas of the city police station in the last two days. Meetings were also held with Ganesh Mandals to sensitize them to follow rules.
Koyli Faliya Yuvak Mandal installed the idol of Lord Ganesha in the residence which sparked controversy as City Police took action against the installation in a residential building. Five people were detained from the spot. However, the action taken by the police sparked outrage amongst the locals.
Hemantbhai Narsade, a leader of Koyli Faliya Ganesh Yuvak Mandal, said, “Following the guidelines of the Commissioner of Police, instead of setting up a pandal on the public road we are installing Ganeshji in the vacant house of Dilipbhai Argade, who lives in Pol. However, the police did not allow the installation by saying that it was a violation of the declaration. The members have gone to meet the police officer and if the police show the law, we will install Ganapati at the place we have decided”.
P.I. VR Vaniya said that the Ganesh Yuvak Mandal of Koyli Faliya was violating the government guidelines by installing a Ganesha idol inside a house. But, the matter was settled after an explanation was provided to the residents and no one was detained.
