To curb the transition of Coronavirus in the city, the Vadodara Trade Development Association has appealed to the Mayor and Police Commissioner to close Vadodara markets after 7 pm. As people were wearing masks during the day in fear of fines, but after 6 pm, 60 % of people were going out without wearing a mask. Even social distancing was not followed after 6 pm.
Even though the cases are rapidly increasing but people are not taking serious precautions towards it. The department has asked the administration about the closure of shops in the evening. They know Coronavirus has caused huge economic losses to traders, but the only way to prevent the pandemic is for markets to close after 7 p.m. The norms are only followed in day to avoid paying fines and according to their survey, 60 percent of people walk around in the evening without wearing a mask.
Paresh Parikh from Vadodara Trade Development Association said, that in areas including Alkapuri, Sayajiganj, Mandvi, Nyayamandir, Raopura Road, people walk in crowds without wearing masks. Social distancing is just not followed properly. The carelessness shown now, will escalate and affect the coming days. Therefore they appeal to the government as well as the local bodies to close all the markets after 7 pm.
The virus has affected people’s businesses to an extent that they all are ready to close their shops and showrooms after 7 pm. There is a possibility that the cases in Vadodara might decrease if an order is issued to close the markets in Vadodara after 7 pm.
