Cremation at Vasna crematorium of COVID patient sparked a controversy

Vadodara administration has identified four crematoriums which are Akota, Vasna, Gotri and Khaswadi which have gas funeral pyre to cremate the suspected COVID and COVID positive patients. These four crematoriums have been identified by the VMC and the bodies are cremated here as per COVID19 guidelines.

The Vasna crematorium is in a dilapidated condition and people had earlier protested and demanded to repair the pyre and chimney. Amid this situation, on Tuesday night, the locals did not allow the funeral of a suspected COVID patient. The locals stopped the ambulance at the entrance and had heated arguments with the medical and police staff. They stated their demand to repair the crematorium again. Finally, the ambulance left for another crematorium.

Today, again the locals gathered at the Vasna Crematorium to stage their protest against the administration’s decision to cremate COVID patients or suspected COVID patients.
