Jacob Martin, who has played 10 ODIs for India, is battling for life in a hospital in Vadodara. Many cricket players, one of the most foremost of them being Krunal Pandya, has offered a blank cheque to cover the medical expenses for Martin’s treatment.
After Martin suffered a road accident on December 28, he suffered acute injuries to the lungs and liver for which he had to be hospitalised and is currently battling for life in a hospital in Vadodara. Martin is well known in cricket since he has played 10 ODIs for India and a number of people have contributed towards his treatment.
Martin’s wife had urged appealed the Board of Cricket for Cricket in India (BCCI) by writing to them and they sanctioned an amount of Rs 5 lakh. The Baroda Cricket Association had also sanctioned an amount of Rs 3 lakh for the former cricketer. Sourav Ganguly also helped financially for his treatment.
Krunal Pandya has left a blank check with Sanjay Patel, the former Baroda Cricket Association’s secretary to put enough money towards the treatment. Ravi Shashtri, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Munaf Patel have also offered financial assistance.
