Longer wait time for any passenger can stir in a lot of irritation and uproar, because who waits for more than an hour to check-in at a domestic airport?
Irked air passengers recently shared images of a long check-in line at Vadodara’s domestic airport. Passengers were worried about missing their flights due to the delayed security check-in procedures. We spoke to Vadodara’s Airport Director, Charan Singh, said that “the terminal is designed for the capacity of 250 people only. However, during the morning congestion hours, from 6:30 am to 8:30 am, the airport witnesses an average of 1200 passengers per hour.”
12 operational flights take off and land on a daily basis at Vadodara Airport, with 4 flights operating in the congestion hours. To curb the situation, Charan Singh stated that the “airport is currently in possession 3 baggage X-ray machines, out of which only 2 are being used and 1 is not used for security reasons. We have already arranged for additional machine and expect it to be delivered soon.” “An additional Door Frame Metal Detector is being installed for a smoother and quicker check-in process at the airport”, he further added.
Since the 15th of August’19, intensive security checking is being carried by the CRPF for security reasons, which has attributed to more check-in time taken per passenger. More so, it is also believed that these stringent actions are being taken in view of the developments taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.
