Death of the patient led to family creating a ruckus and blaming the hospital for negligency

The family of a female patient who died at the Siddhi Multi-Specialist Hospital in Dandiabazar in Vadodara city had vandalized things after alleging that she had died due to medical negligence. The family members have also accused the hospital of handing over the body after paying the treatment bill.

As per available details, the patient, a resident of Panigate was admitted to Siddhi Multi Specialist Hospital in Dandia Bazar on March 31. She died during treatment late on Sunday evening. The family members rushed to the hospital after receiving the news and in a fit of rage, they vandalized the property of the hospital. They accused the doctors of negligence which led to the death of their family member.

The hospital’s oxygen line also went off briefly due to the ruckus created by the angry family members. The line was later restored by the administration. The family members broke furniture, glass, and other items and caused panic in the medical staff as well as patients under treatment at the hospital.

Jitendra Solanki, the husband of the patient put allegations on the hospital for only collecting money from them. They were not given any information about the corona report and about the treatment. His wife had chest pain and was in good health until 9 pm on Sunday night. Around 11 pm at night they were informed about her death. They immediately rushed to the hospital and asked the question about the sudden death. He put allegations on the hospital for negligence.

Raopura Police rushed to the spot after the incident and controlled the situation. ACP Megha Tewar also rushed with the staff and settled the matter by explaining to the outraged people.

ACP Megha Tewar, who rushed to the hospital following the late-night incident, said how the patient died at the hospital was a matter of investigation. According to the family, they were not informed about the report of the deceased was Corona positive or negative. It will also be investigated. The oxygen pipe went off during the ruckus and later restored. The patient who died at the hospital was in the common ward until April 1st and then admitted to the ICU. The incident will also be investigated by a panel doctor if needed.

She further added that if a complaint is lodged by the family members of the deceased and the hospital authorities, a judicial inquiry will be held by filing a complaint. Their job now is to maintain law and order.
