U20 Mayoral Summit in Ahmedabad Showcases Historical Heritage through Enchanting ‘Heritage Walk’
As the world’s first “World Heritage City,” Ahmedabad welcomed delegates from around the globe for the U20 Mayoral Summit, where they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the city’s historical legacy through an engaging ‘Heritage Walk.’
The distinguished guests were greeted with traditional dances and musical performances at the Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple, the starting point of the Heritage Walk. Mayor Kirit Parmar extended a warm welcome to all attendees, highlighting the significance of the Heritage Walk and its cultural importance.
Embarking on the heritage walk, which spanned from Kalupur Swaminarayan Temple to Jama Masjid, the delegates explored 22 different heritage sites. These included iconic locations such as Kavi Dalpatram Chowk, Calico Dome, Lambeshwarni Pol, Doshiwadani Pol, Zaveriwad, Ashtapadji Derasar, Harkunwar Seth’s Haveli, Fernandes Bridge, Manek Chowk, Rani no Haziro, and Jama Masjid. Throughout the walk, the guests from both domestic and international backgrounds admired the architectural marvels, intricate carvings, sacred places of worship, and unique elements like Pol, Otala, and Chabutra.
To enhance the experience, knowledgeable English-speaking guides provided detailed insights into the cultural and historical significance of each heritage site along the route. This allowed the delegates to appreciate the rich heritage that Ahmedabad proudly preserves.
