An order was issued today by the Government of Gujarat, Department of Health and Family Welfare. With this order, provision has been made to reserve 10% seats in 10 specialties of postgraduate courses so that in-service medical officers serving in government health services can pursue higher medical studies.
The order has created a wave of happiness among in-service doctors. This provision will improve the service of the government and alleviate the current shortage of specialists in remote and difficult areas and rural government hospitals.
As per the provisions of this order, the medical officer on duty will be able to study in the field of surgery, medicine, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology Orthopedic, Anesthesia, Radiology, Pathology, Preventive & Social Medicine (PSM), TB and Chest Diseases and Pediatric branch. With today’s order, the secretary of Gujarat In-service Doctors Association, Dr. D. K. Helaiya on behalf of members thanked the Government of Gujarat, Hon’ble Hrishikeshbhai Patel, Minister for Health and Additional Chief Secretary. Additional District Health Officer Dr. Uday Tilawat welcomed the order.
