Events to look out for in 2021

What’s up with 2021!

The 2020 year was marred by the coronavirus pandemic, with most of the major events either postponed or canceled altogether. But, 2021 brings new hope – hopes for a better year, hopes for better fortunes, and more importantly hopes for a better and a happy year. Here, we bring to you the major events concerning your interest in the upcoming year:

1. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer Sooryavanshi was originally set to release on 27th March 2020. However, the coronavirus pandemic threatened the makers’ plans and the film’s release had to be delayed until 2021. Also starring Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn, the film is expected to release in the first quarter of 2021.

2. The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was originally scheduled to take place from October 18 to November 15 in Australia, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic on July 20.

3. 83 was initially slated to release in April this year. However, the release was deferred. 83, is a sports drama directed by Kabir Khan. It is based on India’s historical 1983 World Cup win.

4. The Press Information Bureau tweeted that; the 51st edition of the annual International Film Festival of India (IFFI) which was scheduled to start from November 20, 2020, in Goa has been postponed to next year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

5. The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival this year’s edition of the event will be postponed to 2021, due to the increasing number of corona cases in India.

6. The biggest sporting spectacle on the planet – the Olympics were scheduled to be held in Tokyo this year from July 24-August 9. But it had to be pushed to 2021. The International Olympic Committee made the formal announcement on March 24.

7. The 73rd annual Cannes Film Festival was scheduled to take place from 12 to 23 May 2020. 2021 Cannes Film Festival will begin on Tuesday, 11 May and ends on Saturday, 22 May.

8. The UEFA Euro 2020 was also postponed to 2021. It was slated to take place from June 12, 2020, to July 12, 2020. The tournament will now take place between June 11, 2021, and July 11, 2021.

9. Hajj canceled for people outside Saudi Arabia

10. Formula One’s Chinese Grand Prix has also been postponed because of the outbreak.
