In a recent chain of events on your mobile devices, you may have found a forward that reads how you can ‘avail an Air Conditioning Machine (1.5 tonne) for a slashing price of Rs. 10,000 when you show your electricity bill dated 17-07-2019 to the GEB.’ This viral message is being forwarded from the last few days via social media with actual pictures of ACs along with it.
Believing fake news that is spread like a wildfire is not a new development for us. However, after this particular misleading message, GUVNL has released a press note to clear the air on it. They stated that ‘there is no company or government body linked with this viral message, and they have and will continue to approach the citizens from their front’. They have also urged the citizens to not be tricked by such messages, as well as directly clarify such news with concerned authorities.
