The Vadodara Fire Brigade initiated search for the missing person who had drowned in the Mahi River near Lachanpur village in Savli. On Sunday afternoon, two youngsters from Vadodara went to bathe in the Lachanpur Mahi river, wherein one drowned.
As per available details, 18-year-old Yashwant Parsing Damor, a resident of P&T Colony on Harni Road, and his friend Steven had gone for a bath at Mahi. Yashwant started drowning, and Steven came out to the riverbank in panic. Yashwant eventually disappeared in the flowing water, and his family rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the news.
The police reached the spot and tried to search for Yashwant with the help of professional swimmers, but to no avail. Later, the Vadodara Fire Department was intimated about the incident.
On Monday morning, the Vadodara Fire Brigade team reached the spot with a rubber boat to search for Yashwant. However, the fire brigade’s boat could not reach the river bank due to its size, and the police had to arrange a tractor from Lachanpur village to take the boat to the shore.
Lachanpur, which is considered a picnic spot, has remained closed due to COVID19. However, despite the warnings, people have continued to visit the place for a picnic.
