The Fire Safety Audit Committee constituted by the State Government reached Vadodara and checked the fire safety measures taken by the Covid hospitals. The committee will check 82 hospitals in the city and submit its report to the government.
In the past, Gujarat has witnessed fire incidents in Covid hospitals of Ahmedabad and Rajkot where patients under treatment lost their lives. In Baroda, a fire incident was reported in SSG hospital but patients were shifted to safety in time by the fire brigade and administration. To avoid such incidents the administration needs to prepare themselves with regular training and be equipped with proper fire safety measures.
With such cases, the government formed the Fire Safety and Audit Committee which will look into the safety measures taken by the hospitals and submit their report to the government. The Joint Committee of Department of Fire, Health, Police, and Electric visits the hospitals and checked the safety parameters decided by the government.
The committee visited Vadodara on Tuesday and started checking at Covid hospitals. “We are checking about the fire safety measures taken by the hospitals, fitness of fire system, sprinkler testing, smoke and heat detectors, secondary escape routes, and electric connections for overloading. We will prepare the report and submit it to the government. The team will check 82 hospitals of the city,” said M.F. Dastoor committee member.
