Prime Minister Narendra Modi on July 27 had inaugurated Gujarat’s first “Greenfield International Airport” at Rajkot. Speaking on this occasion, Narendra Modi said that this is not only an international airport built at Hirasar, but it will be a powerhouse that will give new energy to Saurashtra-Gujarat.
The power house has started from today. The old airport of Rajkot city was closed on September 8. From today onwards the operation of Rajkot International Airport at Hirasar has started. It was inaugurated by Mohanbhai Kundaria, MP, Rajkot, Rambhai Mokaria and Kesridhwaj Singh Jhala, MP, Wankaner. Pradeepbhai Dave, Mayor, Rajkot and Rameshbhai Tilala, MLA were especially present on this occasion. Digant Bohra, Airport Director and Sushil Kumar Sharma, General Manager were also present.
The first flight of the airline to mark the inauguration of Rajkot International Airport was accorded a traditional water salute. Fire stations were seen on both sides of the runway for the water salute to greet the flight as it boarded from Hirasar Airport. It was a memorable sight.
The first flight of Indigo arrived today. All passengers were welcomed with garlands and sweets. A new electric bus service has also been launched from Rajkot Central Bus Station to Rajkot International Airport from today. The passengers who arrived at the airport by bus were greeted with kumkum tilak, garlands and sweets. Ras Garba was performed to welcome them.
For the convenience of passengers, a new electric bus service has been started by the Rajkot ST Department from today to travel from Rajkot Bus Station to Rajkot Greenfield International Airport (Hirasar). Bus fare is fixed at rupees 100. Electric Bus Service from Bus Station to Airport is scheduled daily at 6 am, 8 am, 10 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm. While the Electric Bus Service from Airport to Rajkot is scheduled daily at 7 am, 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 pm and 8 pm.
