The police atrocities in the country have escalated like the coronavirus cases. Every day we hear about the medical workers and police being pelted with stone and being spat on. They are appointed for the safety of the citizens and to keep the law and order in check, but instead, they are being attacked by mobs, putting them at risk. The citizens of the country have to realize that the police are there for them, for their safety, for their security. They are on-duty in this scorching sun and trying their best to keep us safe from an invisible virus and are themselves falling prey to the virus.
Recently, in Vadodara, attackers were arrested on Monday, for pelting the Karelibaug Police Station cops. A group had assembled in Kasamhala Mosque for their ‘sehri’ ritual, which is a meal consumed during the early morning before starting the Ramzaan fast. The police asked them to clear out, making the group furious and hurling abuses at the cops. Two of the accused, Rizwan Lakhajiwala and Nazeer Sindhi instigated others which led to pelting stoned and glass bottles at the cops. After additional police staff arrived, the mob started to run and 17 out of the 10 attackers were arrested.
In a turn of events, five out of the 10 attackers tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the positive case toll to 253 in Vadodara. The details of the five people will be shared by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) by afternoon, meanwhile, police officials confirmed the reports of positive cases of these five attackers.
All these 10 accused were arrested and taken to the police station. An assistant commissioner of police and detection squad members will now be home quarantined as per the safety measures which has to be followed for COVID-19. All of the involved members in the case who were present during the nabbing and arrests of these attackers will also get themselves checked and tested.
The police need to be in their full force right now, but instead, they are being met out with violence and have to home quarantine themselves because of their direct exposure to the virus.
