Food larries around the city operating on the sidewalks, soon to get displaced

“Veg and Non-Veg food larries, operating on the walkways are similar to land grabbing and shall get removed immediately,” states Gujarat Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi in Vadodara.

Gujarat Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that all the food larries that operate on the walkways are similar to the act of temporary land acquisition and shall get removed at the earliest. The larries are encroaching on a public place that is meant for the public, he said as he welcomed the decision by the Vadodara Mahanagar Seva Sadan (VMSS).

On Thursday, VMSS Standing Committee Chairman Dr. Hitendra Patel issued orders to his team as part of a 15 days drive. The drive will aim to stop how non-vegetarian food is sold, and also make arrangements for displacement. There are issues of traffic due to such larries, and a lack of hygiene. It is also a matter of faith as it hurts the sentiments of citizens when they see non-veg food in public spaces.

During a program in Vadodara, Rajendra Trivedi expressed his support for the decision of VMSS and stated that sidewalks aren’t the authorized places for businesses. The encroachment on the footpath is similar to temporary land acquisition; veg and non-veg larries must be removed.

Furthermore, he acknowledges the police for their quick investigation and filing charge sheet, which helped in quick judgment by POSCO court of Surat in the four-year-old girl rape case. He ensured that such accused can not escape the law, and every case shall be fast-tracked while also mentioning the recent Gandhinagar case.
