The Minister of Health and Family Welfare Rishikesh Patel flagged off 13 vehicles for food testing, which will be functional for food safety, and will be doing tests in a compact manner to check the food products’ quality.
– A total of 22 “Food Testing Mobile Laboratory Vans” became operational in the state under the “Food Safety on Wheels” project
– The government is committed to speedy redressal of grievances related to food shortages
– Food items will be tested for fried oil, milk, packaging, drinking water, juice, sherbet, and other food items
Minister of Health and Family Welfare Rishikesh Patel said that the state government is committed to implementing safety on wheels in every district of the state to ensure that the citizens of the state get the quantity of essential food items in a pure and quality manner. After giving the green signal to 13 more Central Government-sponsored mobile food testing vans at Gandhinagar today, the Health Minister said that these mobile vans would be deployed in various districts to ensure that citizens do not have to consume unclean and adulterated food. If food is brought for testing by the citizens, it will also be tested and given free of cost. If the sample is found to be adulterated, strict action will be taken against it by taking a sample.
Two food safety vans were commissioned in 2013 by then CM Narendra Modi to take care of the health of the citizens of the state. As a result of the best work done by the state government for testing the food items with the help of computerized equipment and advanced technology, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya has provided 13 new mobile vans to Gujarat free of cost. By circulating it across the state, public awareness will be created regarding the quality of food items. All the ancillary expenses of this van will also be provided by the Central Government.
This mobile van is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. In order to be able to test the sample on the spot with these instruments, the milk can be tested by a milk testing machine to detect chemicals like fat, SNF, protein and ammonium sulfate, sucrose, water maltodextrin, urea in the milk as well as edible oil which is frequently fried. If it comes, the oil becomes toxic then the van also has a machine to test such toxic oils. The oil will be tested by going to the farsan shops.
In addition to this, all the tests including the amount of TDS in the drinking water found in the packing, and the amount of sugar in the juice and syrup will be done on the spot. In which the amount of sugar can be known in the calculation moments and if the amount of sugar is more then the sample will be tested. And if the sample is found to be adulterated, strict legal action will be taken against it. On this occasion, the Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration Dr. Officers including HG Koshia were present.
