Hemal Shah, a former fashion designer from Dholka taluka in Ahmedabad district, has transitioned to animal husbandry and has achieved great success. He now owns 43 Gir milking cows and eight pregnant cows, and earns more than 7 lakhs annually by selling milk alone. Hemal’s passion for animal husbandry started in his childhood, and despite achieving success in the field of fashion designing, he decided to pursue his passion for animal husbandry.
Hemal applied for an animal husbandry assistance scheme in 2018-19, which allowed him to establish 12 milch cows on ‘i-ખેડૂત portal’. He prefers a natural approach to animal husbandry, using cow dung, cow urine extract, vermicompost, fodder, and mine grains for cattle feed. This has improved animal health and increased production.
Hemal Shah has been awarded as the best animal husbandry breeder in Ahmedabad district for the year 2022-2023. His earnings from selling milk alone amount to approximately Rs. 60,000 per month. In addition to selling milk, He produces and sells natural animal-based products such as ghee, cheese, and butter, which also contribute to his economic earnings.

He takes pride in his work and believes that animal husbandry is a natural way to increase income and benefit human health.
