Games to engage with family

The world is a witness to the terrifying global pandemic which has left a lot of us housebound. The unprecedented event has caused us to self-isolate ourselves.

A recent lockdown for 21 days has only made a lot of us wonder about our free time. In this free time, while binge-watching will be fun, but the little kids are bursting with energy and can’t find an outlet. This might be the best time to bring out your board games and sit down to play with the family.

Here are a few lists of indoor games you can play with your family:

  • CARROM

‘Juice pivanu ane carrom ramvanu’ is quite a dialogue come true from Munnabhai MBBS. Carrom is liked by almost all age groups and can be quite fun to play with family members.

  • CHESS

Although chess limits the players to two, it’s a game of patience and strategy. Sharpen your mind and then close the game with an energetic ‘checkmate’.

  • LUDO

Nothing can beat the high-shrilled voices and energetic hurrahs when a player puts another player back to their home or when the dice rolls the perfect the moves.

  • PICTIONARY

The more the merrier is the motto of the game. Put your drawing skills at work. If not then, it’s a great time to hone it. Go crazy with your drawings and laugh till you can’t breathe when you have to close your eyes and draw things. You can record the guesses of your opponent team and laugh about it later too.

  • SNAKES & LADDERS

The age-old game, that many hesitate to play because of the strategical positions of every snake on the board. Oh! The disappointment when your token falls on the face of the snake and you go down where its tail ends. Life is full of ups and downs that suits the vibes of this game.

  • BUSINESS

It’s another board game to blow your mind away. All that fake cash and fake buying will give you quite some thrill.

  • CLUEDO

Do you need some mystery and suspense? Are you sharp enough to figure out the murderer before anyone else? Are you shrewd enough to give others a false lead? Go for Cluedo. It’ll test your patience and reward you with the name of the murderer, the weapon and the room.

  • JENGA

It’s definitely not a board game but is a total fun game. The more blocks you take out, the more difficult the game gets. Who will make the tower fall? Record it in slow motion and notice everyone’s reaction. Definitely fun stuff!

  • SCRABBLE

Put your vocabulary to good use or make this the best opportunity to learn some words with your family members.

  • UNO

A card game that has varieties available at the market. But either way, it’s still your same old UNO. It’s colorful, it’s thrilling and the game can be never-ending if you serve them ‘draw 2’ or ‘draw 4’ cards. And remember to shout UNO when you’ve got just one card left.
