Gang of diesel thieves caught by Vadodara Rural SOG

On instructions of Harikrishna Patel, Inspector General of Police, Vadodara range, and Sudhir Kumar Desai, Superintendent of Police, Vadodara Rural, all officers of the district are conducting effective night patrolling to prevent theft in the district. Based on that SOG inspector A.A. Desai and sub-inspector A.K. Raulji gave necessary instructions to the team for carrying out night checking to prevent theft and other criminal activities in the area.

During the night round, the team approached a truck parked near Alamgir village under the jurisdiction of Varnama police station. The team found four people standing near the truck suspiciously. As soon as the team reached there the accused attacked the vehicle with sticks and fled the spot in the darkness. SOG unarmed SI Pradipbhai Jethabhai was injured in the sudden attack.

The SOG team chased the accused and immediately took action and blocked the road after informing the control room and stopped the vehicle.

Meanwhile, three of the four accused fled leaving behind the vehicle and one was apprehended from the spot by the police. When questioned, he revealed his identity as Mahendrabhai Vinubhai Solanki. The names of the other three who escaped are Fatehsinh Solanki, Kiransinh Solanki both residents of Amrapura in Savli, and Kalpesh Parmar from Rasawadi Savli.

Two number plates were found from the car along with 06 empty carboys and 06 other plastic carboys filled with 35 liters of diesel from the trunk of the car. While inquiring, Mahendrasinh Solanki revealed stealing the diesel from a truck parked near Alamgir petrol pump. The team inquired the same with the truck driver and he revealed about the theft of 150 liters of diesel.

An offense under section 11197054210116/20, IPC 332, 308, 353, 379, 114, and section 3, 7 of the Damage to Public Property Act has been registered against the four in Varnama police station. The team then arrested the three persons who attacked the police and fled. Out of these Fatehsinh Solanki, Kalpesh Parmar was arrested and search is on to catch the absconding Kiransinh Solanki.

All the arrested were involved in criminal activities earlier. The police are further investigating the matter.
