Low-key Ganpati celebration this year in Vadodara amid Covid outbreak

GaneshUtsav on the of the most popular festivals celebrated with much fervour and joy in Vadodara. But this year due to Corona Outbreak, large gathering and celebration is a risky affair for which Government is constantly making an attempt to maintain social distancing. Due to Pandamic situation Eid and Rathyatra were celebrated at a more subdued level.
India’s most Lalbaughcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has also decided not to hold Ganeshotsav in 2020. Lalbaughcha Raja Ganeshotsav Mandal has announced that a blood and plasma donation camp will be set up in the place of Lord Ganesh idol this time for all 11 days.

Yet there are not guidelines published by Vadodara City Police but today a meeting of major Ganpati Mandals and Ganpati Idol Artists was held to discuss the way of celebration amid Covid-19 outbreak. Jay Thakor from Vadodara’s known Pratapmadgha Ni Pol, Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav said that we all Ganesh manadal members have come to a common decision to follow all the guidelines given by Vadodara Police Commissioner. He added that we have decided to keep the celebrations low key this year and keeping in line with all the guidelines given by our administration. The Mandap and Idol size will also be small comparative to previous years. This pandemic has taken control over the whole world and we do not want the devotees or our own to be affected by this virus.

This year the celebration will be without much fanfare, crowds and processions. The tradition of celebrating Ganeshotsav should to be broken, keeping all measures at place.
