Gujarat’s delicacies for winter, you must taste.

When winter arrives, the demand for delicious food increase in Guajarati’s home. Gujarati people tend to eat heavy foods that help them get some inner warmth.

A common Gujarati household usually has a set of dishes for every season. So, summer foods are characterized by relatively cooling. While winter include foods that are characterized to keep our body warm. These include dishes made from jaggery, barley, millets, etc. The taste of Gujarati recipes is a mixture of sweet and sour. These traditional foods help us to bear the cold and dry weather and provide us with immunity. Moreover, you tend to eat more during these months as your body is able to digest the foods faster and better in winter.

So, let’s wrap up some most delicious Guajarati dishes:

Ø BAJRA/JOWAR NO ROTLO

Bajra/Jowar Na Rotla Recipe is a Traditional Gujarati Pearl Millet bread. It is also known as Bajra Roti is a plain and simple flat bread made from pearl millet flour. Bajra Na Rotla and ringna no olo is an all-time winter favourite food. These rotis are highly nutritious, and at the same time, very light on the tummy. Also, bajra flour is reserved for the winter months as it has a lot of heat.

 

Ø SUKHDI (GUD-PAPDI)

This is such a lip-smacking sweet treat that can not only warm you up from within in this cold weather, but also be a great addition to your list of sweet-treats. It’s a Gujarati’s staple snack called sukhdi (or gur-papdi/gor-papdi). Sukhdi is basically a delicious mix of equal amount of atta and jaggery and oodles of ghee. This is high nutritional food and jaggery helps to keep us warm during winters.

 

Ø TIL-GUD AND MURMURA LADDU

Til-gud and murmura laddu are traditional Indian sweet, which are mainly prepare foe festival of Makar Sankranti. These cuisines are mainly made of molten jaggery which helps to keep our body warm during winter.

       

Ø DRY FRUIT LADDU
