Gujarat’s largest Dialysis Centers inaugurated at Parul Sevashram Hospital

Vadodara’s Parul Sevashram Hospital, upon taking note of the increasing rate of kidney- related diseases, this multi-speciality hospital took the initiative of developing a state of the art dialysis centre, to ensure a high standard of quality care, to the patients from the privileged and under-privileged communities. It has been equipped with a total bedding capacity of 30 beds, making it the largest dialysis centre in Gujarat.

Patients suffering from chronic kidney diseases need to be dependent on routine dialysis therapy for survival, however, this can be financially draining for the family. Through this large scale and efficient dialysis facility, Parul Sevashram Hospital hopes to enhance the scope of coverage to both rural and urban Vadodara. This facility will be operated in association with NephroPlus to ensure an ample supply of the required resources. This dialysis centre will be the only establishment in the city of Vadodara to not only provide dialysis services but goes a step further to administering an all‐round treatment for the management of kidney related diseases.

Under the expert care of senior Nephrologists, Physicians, and a strong technical team, more than 1,200 Dialysis patients of all age groups, including children, are efficiently treated and catered for each month. The centre is also equipped with high standard medical facilities such as the emergency dialysis and a specialised intensive care unit for critical patients. To ensure holistic care, diet plans and meal planning are also developed for the kidney patients including counseling sessions for the family members to ensure the long term care of their relatives.

“The patients of chronic kidney diseases are severely immunocompromised, putting them at a high risk of COVID-19 infections and its related complications. Throughout the pandemic, we have ensured the safety of our patients by following all safety protocols. We have also developed a separate centre for the care of COVID infected patients requiring dialysis and we have saved more than a hundred lives in the process” said Dr Hardik Gajera, a senior nephrologist at Parul Sevashram Hospital. Parul Sevashram Hospital’s dialysis centre was also one of the few centres in the city that was completely functional even during the COVID-19 lockdown to ensure no disruptions in patient care.

The centre has also been providing all the medications and treatments free of cost to the PM‐Jay card holders. “We believe in improving the quality of life for our patients by ensuring the best treatment and care given by qualified and skilled dialysis technicians. This can be attributed to the graduate and diploma courses provided by the Department of Paramedical and Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, by which the students not only gain theoretical knowledge, but learn to go on to become important members of the medical team and provide the best patient care.” said the Hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Geetika Madan Patel.
