HAPPY HEALTHY DIWALI

Diwali, does not need any introduction. Since childhood we have been reading and writing about how Diwali is the festival of lights and colors and fireworks. It plays a significant role in the Hindu religion as well, marking the triumph of the righteousness over the evil. Speaking of Diwali 2022, it is definitely special because we had to celebrate Diwali in utmost moderation over the past 2 years, thanks to COVID. So, on the occasion of this year’s special Diwali we thought of putting light on how Diwali can be celebrated in a healthy way.

Diwali and sweets go hand in hand, so it will be really unfair to advise people against it. However, how we can actually reform this sweetness into a healthy habit is by making a simple change; choose sweets either with natural sweeteners or sugar free sweets made of dry fruits. Watch out for the calorie intake so you can adequately plan to shed those kilos off. Try picking up baked alternatives for all the fried delicacies. Remember to have extra water to develop a feeling of fullness, this way you’ll be able to cut off on a lot of calories. Like its said, sharing is caring; please make sure you share all those surplus boxes of sweets with your loved ones. This will help with both, developing a stronger relation with your peers and a leaner body. Win win.


Those added kilos shouldn’t be only concern this Diwali. Especially after COVID, immunity of a lot of people have been altered and some are yet to feel their best after the infection. So, it very vital to choose eco-friendly crackers. The best option here would be to opt for a pollution free Diwali, but if you must, please buy the smoke free ones. You can also keep a face-mask handy too. An earplug would also be a great tool in your pockets.

All the enthusiasm for the festival is great, but as much precaution is also must. Burns is the most common injury during the festival times. To avoid burns, the best way is to burn firecrackers from a safe distance and never forget to wear appropriate clothes. Silk, rayon and other such materials which catch fire easily should be totally avoided, especially for kids. Cotton would be the safest option. First aid kit can come to rescue at any time. Make sure to have topical ointments for burns in your kits.

Nobody is asking you to be a monk on Diwali. Afterall, we have added reasons to celebrate Diwali in grandeur this year. A detox session for your body after the festival is over will be a nice idea. Not only weight management but also other detox like a proper sleep-wake cycle, proper eating patterns and such things. Celebrate safely. Happy Diwali.
