A total of 6 teams have been deployed in flood-affected districts at Navsari, Surat, Valsad, Porbandar, Dwarka, Somnath at the request of Gujarat Disaster Management Department. Each team has 45 rescue members, trained to deal with flood-related disasters. The team is also carrying essential kits including face masks, sanitizers, hand gloves, etc, keeping in mind the floods and the current coronavirus infection.
The team comprises of doctors, paramedics, and are equipped with deep-dive boats, lifebuoys, life jackets, communication equipment like Quick Deployable Antenna (QDA), HF/VHF, satellite phones and cutting equipment. These devices can work during the failure of a common communication network.
Additional teams are also put on standby in other NDRF battalions and will be called as per requirement.
