The presence of humanity in these tough times is what makes a person more human. While the world battles and divides itself on the basis of caste, creed, religion, in Vadodara, few Muslim neighbors in Navayard performed the last rites of an 85-year-old Hindu man who had passed away. The Muslim neighbors performed the last rites on behalf of the family members as they could not visit him for the rituals due to the lockdown. The deceased used to stay with his wife and due to old age, he used to be sick.
They wore masks as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus and helped in making arrangements for the deceased’s last rites and carried his body on their shoulders to the cremation ground. They have indeed set an example in society stating that no matter what one’s religion is, it’s the act of the human that matters.
