Coronavirus has claimed innumerable lives across the world which has forced many of the countries to be under complete lockdown. While the countries are in lockdown, curfew has been imposed too, to keep public off the streets and maintain social distance, in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Humans are social beings and it’s extremely difficult to socially isolate ourselves.
FOR THE ELDERLY PEOPLE
Elderly people around us are going to need most of the attention. If you know anyone around you, try to help them.
You could help by getting them the essentials and medicines that they need. Do remember to maintain social distancing and extreme hygienic conditions. You can call them up and check upon them. Keep them engaged so that even they can kill some time while at home.
You could play Antakshari, watch an old movie together, you can ask them to narrate stories. Sit down with them and pray if you can. Make sure they eat their food on time, take their medicines on time. They do understand the depth of the situation, but they are irritated by staying at home. During this time help them with some yoga. Make them meditate to help relieve them of their stress.
FOR THOSE IN PG
Everyone living in a PG, or away from home with housemates, if you are an office-goer, you might be working from home.
Staying away from family is difficult and at the same time, you might have to make your own bed, clean the house, cook food, do your work, get some exercise, eat healthy food. While you do all this, you can make it fun with your fellow roommates.
Divide the work and play some music to give you some energy. Pretend it’s MasterChef and have fun while cooking. Ditch those boring exercises and do some aerobics with an upbeat song. Or you can just dance it out. Play some games to keep yourselves engaged. Get creative and try to enjoy each task.
It’s not every day that you have to experience home quarantine after all. Call up your friends, family and loved ones. Keep a track of the news. Help each other out through these tough times.
FOR THE OFFICE-GOERS AT HOME
It’s work from home and you have to manage household chores too and it might not be very easy. But since your whole family is at home, you could distribute each task to the members.
Make a routine and make sure your family contributes to the chores. Someone can water the plant, walk the dog, feed the child, clean the house, cook food, etc.
FOR THE HOMEMAKERS
It’s a tiring business to keep the house running when the maid, the laundry-guy are all on paid leave, while here you are working relentlessly for your family.
It might disturb your regular routine, but everything is fixable if you can distribute tasks amongst everyone. And since the task gets divided, you might find more time for yourself. Utilize these golden times. Pick up a book. Watch some movies with the family. Organize your cupboard or your shelf of spices. If you like Sudoku or crossword, get set going. You can even download the apps. Play your favorite music and enjoy the silence outside while sipping your tea/coffee. Engage yourself in some series on the online platforms. It’ll keep you hooked and entertained.
21 days lockdown is a serious matter and needs solid planning, which means you might have to ration every food item and make a list of other commodities you might need.
Let’s all stay in and maintain social distancing when out. We can curb and contain the virus if we all unitedly decide to stay at home. Stay safe and be smart!
