The impact of the Russia-Ukraine conflict got 600 students from Gujarat stranded in Ukraine with a drastic hike in airfare up to Rs.1 lakhs.
A considerable number of students travel to study medicine in Russia and Ukraine. Parents claim that tensions between the two countries have trapped 600 students, from the state, among which 150 students of Vadodara. The students are making attempts to return, but return fares got drastically hiked by the airlines.
On Monday, parents of MBBS students in Ukraine made representations to the state authorities. While Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said that the government has been working for the last two months considering the situation in Ukraine. Students from Gujarat will be brought back immediately. The state government will take appropriate action by submitting the matter to the central government.
