The International Kite Festival, which is an 8-day festival to celebrate Uttrayan in different cities of Gujarat was held today in Vadodara from 10 am to 4 pm. The sprawling Navlakhi grounds in the city played host to 36 expert flyers from 10 different countries.
A VMC official pointed out that the event, which is a joint effort by the civic body and the tourism department of the state, saw a good response. Also present at the event were kite flying enthusiasts from countries like Thailand, New Zealand, Nepal, Poland, Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam, Tunisia, Ukraine, the United States and the Philippines.
Also, 16 kite flying experts from states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Gujarat also participated. The festival starts in Vadodara today, and it will be held in a different city of Gujarat every day till January 14, which is celebrated as Uttarayan or Makar Sankranti.
