Karuna Ambulance Rescues National Bird: A Tale of Saving a Peacock’s Life

Karuna Ambulance, in collaboration with the State Animal Husbandry Department and EMRI Green Health Service, has been tirelessly serving Vadodara’s sick animals and birds. To date, they have provided free treatment to over 43,583 animals and birds, ranging from medical to surgical cases.

A recent incident highlights the incredible work they do. On September 24, 2023, in Kumetha village within the Waghodia range, a national bird, the peacock, fell victim to a dog attack. The local forest guard, Rupalben Prajapati, promptly reported the incident by calling 1962. The peacock had suffered deep wounds, with its heart visibly exposed due to the dog’s claws.

Upon receiving the call, the Karuna Ambulance team swung into action. Chirag Parmar and pilot Ratan Singh rushed to the scene. Working alongside the forest department, the Karuna team performed an on-the-spot operation on the injured peacock, involving 32 stitches. The bird was carefully dressed and handed back to the forest department.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Karuna Ambulance’s skilled team successfully saved the peacock’s life. The national bird is now on the path to recovery, receiving ongoing treatment. This remarkable rescue demonstrates the dedication and commitment of Karuna Ambulance in safeguarding the region’s wildlife.
