The police are uniformed public officers and are responsible for keeping law and order intact. They work 365 days around the clock to ensure the safety and security of the citizens. They are continuously mowed down by the constant increasing crime cases coupled with coronavirus lockdown and mass gatherings. These khaki-clad government officers toil under all-kinds of working conditions.
With the spread of coronavirus in the nation and lockdown, security has been increased. Citizens had been requested to stay at home and no public gathering is allowed. Despite all this, the cops have tried their very best to punish people creatively, like some made the violators do yoga, while others just sang songs in Kolkata for entertainment.
But along with lockdown, the plight of the poor worsened. Many are homeless or not getting food. Amid such a crisis, the police have stepped up to help these people in need. Some of them have been feeding the strays, while others distributed food and water. The daily wagers are finding these times to be extremely difficult.
In Vadodara, Police Sub-Inspector, HD Vyas is one such inspiration who has been helping the needy. She does her duty and after that, she serves another duty and that is cooking food for the homeless. Vyas along with eight other women cops cook food for hundreds of homeless people in the city. The citizens had pointed out their conditions and the patrolling teams had also noticed the plight of these helpless beings. They decided to devote extra hours to ensure no one sleeps with a hungry stomach.
More than 400 homeless people in the city are served with puri-bhaji, rice, and a few other items for their dinner. Utmost precautions are taken to keep the food hygienic while preparing the food.
It does sound difficult to cook for so many people after working tirelessly and patrolling in the sun. But to them, just like securing the citizens from crimes is their duty, so is helping the homeless and hungry people.
