This time, considering the Marathi lobby, Balkrishna Shukla has been given a chance to contest elections from BJP from the Raopura seat. Instead of taking a candidate from Akota seat, this time instead of Rajendra Trivedi Shukla has been appointed to contest elections.
Balkrishna Shukla was Mayor of Vadodara from 2008 to 2010. He was elected to 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 and also became a member of Committee on Commerce and in 2010 he became a members of Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests.
But this time he will be contesting elections after 13 years of break from politics or any other major position. But to this, when we asked people about him, the people of Raopura were very optimistic where they mentioned that he has been contributing to people all this while. Whereas, some people were rigid to vote for BJP irrespective of the candidate.

When he was serving as Member of Parliament Balakrishna Shukla had spoken of extending his support to the LGBT (Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgenders) community. Not only this, he had started the process of implementing many beneficial schemes for the transgender community.
