The Aam Aadmi Party is still a settler in Gujarat. AAP contested in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in 2017 and the Gujarat municipal elections in 2021. Now AAP is fully fortified to contest Gujarat’s Legislative Assembly election in 2022.
The BJP’s stronghold is the main opposition and real challenge AAP will face in holding their grounds in Gujarat. The AAP had named Isudan Gadhvi as its Gujarat CM candidate. Gujarat has been ruled by the Bhartiya Janata Party since 1998.
AAP released its candidate list, featuring new faces in Vadodara. One of the many names on the list is Swejal Vyas. Vadodara is a cultural city with the heritage of the Gaekwad dynasty. Swejal Vyas will run in the legislative assembly elections from the Vadodara district’s Sayajigunj constituency.
Swejal Vyas has worked as a social worker for 15 to 18 years and is a professionally trained event and wedding planner. He has even organized many events and weddings outside of India. During the COVID-19 period, he did a lot of work, such as performing the last rituals of COVID-19 patients.
With the core feeling of working for people, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party to become the leader of people and fulfil their needs. He was planning to contest as an independent candidate before joining the Aam Aadmi Party, and he even ran in the election on his own but lost. So, he decided to join the political party to have political support on the field.
He did his schooling from Gandhinagar. He has pursued a diploma degree in Event Management from National Academy of Event Management from Ahmedabad and development in 2011. He also mentioned, that he was once or twice held and taken to police station during his early career, while he was a social worker.
During this time, he overlooked the work of many political parties, including the BJP and Congress, but AAP found its way to Swejal’s heart. He believes that the BJP and Congress are corrupt parties that work according to their corrupt minds rather than the needs of the people.
Swejal Vyas visited Delhi to admire the work of AAP and to meet the national convener of AAP, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. With the goal of working in Gujarat and developing education systems similar to those in Delhi, he returned with the AAP’s mantle.It is to be seen after the results of the election whether Swejal Vyas will be true to his words and be the leader that people need. Swejal Vyas will run for the Sayajigunj seat against BJP’s Keyur Rokadiya and Congress’ Ami Rawat.
