Congress is the main opposition party to Bhartiya Janta Party in Gujarat. Congress has participated in Gujarat’s every election since 1962. In Gujarat Legislative Assembly Elections 2022, Congress has selected Tashveen Kamaljit Singh of Congress for Manjalpur seat and she will be contesting in the field against Yogesh Patel of BJP and Vinay Chavan of AAP. Tashveen Singh is obscure to people as she is contesting for the first time. But here is some information on Tashveen that we procured while interacting with her.
Tashveen is a dentist by profession and graduated with a Masters in Dental Surgery from Ahmedabad Dental College, Gujarat University, in 2017. She entered politics around 4–5 years ago to bring positive change to the country and politics. On asking about her profession, she said, “she will continue to practice dentistry along with achieving new heights in politics.” Tashveen joined Congress because she believes that Congress possesses great values and morals, which are important to leading the country.
Tashveen believes that leaders of any community should be educated and young individuals like her, who can better lead and provide long-term visions. An educated leader is very necessary for any country or community to lead because, without education, one cannot show the path to a bright future. Education is very important for uplifting our country. Another very sensitive issue she would like to improve in our country is women’s safety, education, and health. Most of the women in our country are deprived of basic rights such as education, security, and healthcare. As important as rights are for men, they should be equally important to women as well. But in many parts of our country, women are largely uneducated, do not have primary freedom, and do not have access to healthcare and educational institutions, resulting in rising health-care and other issues. That is why with the goal of improving education system and healthcare along with addressing women related issues in our country, Tashveen Singh will be contesting in the field of Gujarat Legislative Assembly Elections of 2022.
When Tashveen was appointed as a candidate for the Manjalpur seat in the Legislative Assembly Elections, it sparked opposition by Congress workers, who stated that even Congress workers don’t know anything about her, how the people will elect her.
