The show commenced from 31st October onwards but had to stop due to some technical complications. However, it resumed on 8th November, a day after Diwali coinciding Gujarati New Year day.
Chief engineer of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited, Parthiv C Vyas and executive engineer JK Garasiya say that the show is free of charge as of now currently which starts at 6.45 pm and goes till 7.15 pm. Adding to that, the projection of light and sound are really vivid and anyone can it from far distances. All the laser projectors are placed in a specialised enclosure.
For a whole day’s trip including a visit to viewing the gallery at the height of 153 metres at the statue, adult tourists are charged with Rs 350 and children for Rs 200 between 3 to 15 years. And if viewing gallery is excluded it is Rs 120 for adults and Rs 60 for children. And visitors who are visiting different sites of the statue in around 19 km route to and fro, the bus charges Rs 30 per passenger.
People can visit the Statue of Unity between 9am to 5pm and can witness the laser and sound show almost two hours after that.
Projection technicality was done by a US-based global visual technology called Pyramid Technologies in collaboration with Germany’s laser show producer firm, Christie Crimson. The whole team of laser projectors was responsible for installing and integrating an engaging show. SoU’s laser show boasts of the largest deployment of high-brightness projectors ever installed in India. The lenses/lasers selected for the statue can withstand harsh weather conditions.
