Locals aggressively protested after covid patients were brought by the administrators of Swarg community care center an old age home located in the Sevasi TP-2 area of the city. There was a scuffle between the locals and the staff of the center and further escalated after a local woman tried to hit the Care Center Manager with a chappal. Locals have also written to the District Collector demanding closure of the care center.
As per available details, Swarg Community Care Center (Vrudhashram) in the Sevasi TP-2 area takes care of the elderly of the financially well-off families. A corona elderly patient was brought there for care, which irked the locals and they protested. Residents of the society had approached the care center administrators not to bring covid-19 patients.
Arun Vyas, a resident of the society, said that Swarg Community Care Center is an old age home. Although the staff of this care center does not have any permission to take care of or treat the corona patients, they are endangering the lives of the residents of the society by bringing and treating the corona patients. There has been a scuffle with the people of the Society and the staff of the Care Center when they went to make a presentation at the Care Center on Thursday.
A written representation has been made to authorities about patients being brought in.
The women of the society gathered near the care center and the Staff including the Manager of the care center came down. A scuffle broke out between them and it further escalated after a woman of the society took off her slippers and tried to hit the Manager.
The protest against the care center lasted for about an hour and the senior citizens living in the care center panicked.
