In the afternoon a man visited the Jean Kushal Jewelers on Makrand Desai Road and asked for a quotation for a number of items. The shopkeeper was writing down the quotations when the man handed over a sprayed handkerchief to the shop owner to sniff. When the owner refused, the man forcibly tried to make him sniff it and attempted to rob the gold chain of the owner and cash from the shop.
However, the man was caught by the Gotri police before he could succeed with his robbery attempt. Interrogation revealed that his name is Jagdish Rameshchandra Thakkar, a resident of Gotri and is an auto-rickshaw driver. Police have registered a case against the accused and further investigation is going on.
