An eight-year-old male leopard has been caged from Zari village in Chhota Udepur on Wednesday.
Forest officials were on the hunt for the leopard after he attacked and killed a nine-month-old infant who was sleeping beside his mother on Wednesday night. The leopard pulled the kid out of bed by using his jaws and fled.
Forest officials lured the leopard into the cage with bait right after Dhaval’s body was found. Now, it has been shifted to the forest department’s rescue centre in Pavagadh and is under observation. The victim’s father has been given a compensation of Rs four lakh.
