Mastermind of Bicchu gang, Aslam Bodio arrested

Aslam alias Bodio Haidermiya Sheikh, the fugitive mastermind of the Bicchu gang was nabbed by the Vadodara Crime Branch at Chuchhapura Dargah in Bodeli in Chhotaudepur district. His associate
Soebali alias Bapu Yusuf Ali Syed was also arrested by the police.

An offense was registered under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Act (GujCTOC), a law with stringent provisions, against Aslam Bodio and his gang involved in cases of extortion and land grabbing cases in Vadodara. Police have arrested his gang members and in search of absconding Aslam Bodio.

The crime branch team had received information that the absconding Aslam Bodio was taking shelter at Chuchhapura Dargah. On the basis of which the team of Vadodara Crime Branch raided the place and caught him. So far, 17 accused have been arrested in the GujCTOC case against the Bicchu gang. Aslam Bodio, who lives behind Bhathuji temple in Navapura Mahbubpura, has sought remand by the police to get details of where he took refuge.

Earlier in the case, under the guidance of Vadodara Crime Branch DCP Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, ACP DS Chauhan and his team had started investigating the properties of the gang members. They seized important documents about raids at Bodio’s houses in different parts of the city. After obtaining information about his shops, houses, vehicles, and bank account, the team began an investigation about his properties. His vehicles were also being inspected by the police. The police investigation revealed that Aslam Bodio and Munna Tarbuch of the Bicchu gang had assets worth over Rs 100 million.

Four teams of the Crime Branch were searching for the accused, including absconding Aslam Bodio and Munna Tadbuch. Police teams conducted investigations at Rajasthan, Panchmahal-Godhra, Bharuch-Jambusar as well as Nandurbar in Maharashtra. Teams also raided the accused’s shelters on Sunday, including Bodio and Tadbuch.
