“Mere Badle ki Aag” Vadodara Version

– Taken quite literally by Akash Sonar who set the collector’s office ablaze.

Vadodara – In a shocking turn of events, the heart of Vadodara witnessed a fiery spectacle (quite literally) as the Collector’s office succumbed to the flames of revenge. The city’s administrative center became the epicenter of chaos, leaving the authorities scrambling for answers.

“The police had alerted the fire brigade on the spot the fire was taken under control” says DCP Tejal Patel.

A seemingly ordinary man, Akash Shaileshbhai Sonar, took matters into his own hands, setting ablaze a cache of crucial documents in a bid to settle an old score. DCP Tejal Patel, the lead investigator, disclosed the details of this incident that left all of us to the edge of our seats.

According to Patel, the roots of this fiery vendetta trace back a year and a half, when Sonar, a mere visitor to the collector’s office, found himself entangled in an incident involving a flooded ladies’ toilet. According to Sonar he went into the Ladies toilet to fix the flooding toilet and was confronted by the female worker. This resulted in a police intervention and he was asked to write an apology for the same.

Driven by a desire for payback, Sonar kept his anger hidden until it exploded during Navratri. He tried to break some windows, but no one paid much attention, and the broken glass didn’t spark an investigation.

On November 13, 2023, Akash intentionally started a big fire in the Vadodara Collector’s office. It turns out he had a plan. Security cameras caught him going into the office and leaving after the fire started. The Home Guard people who were there also told the police what they saw. All this information led the police to figure out who he was and arrested him.

DCP Tejal Patel stated, “He set fire to the box on the first floor, causing bottles and papers to cascade onto the front. The flames then spread, fueled by the combustible documents. He didn’t stop there – pots and papers in the prangan (yard) were also set ablaze, turning the collector’s office into a huge fire.”

Adding a layer of complexity to the narrative, Patel disclosed that Sonar, a contract-based peon in a private company, was allegedly mentally unwell according to his father. As the investigation continues, the city now braces for the unfolding of evidence that may shed light on the extent of Sonar’s mental state and his motivations.

People in Vadodara are captivated by this story of revenge. It’s like a drama that goes beyond what we usually experience, making everyone think about how vulnerable government offices can be when someone holds a grudge.
