The MD of MGVCL stated that there was no power outage in the state, reports should not mislead citizens. The state-owned power distribution corporations have planned an adequate power supply to meet all of the state’s citizens’ electricity demands.
Tushar Bhatt, M.D. of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Limited, says that the state-owned power distribution companies have prepared an adequate power supply to meet the electricity demand of all users in the state.
He went on to say that there is no need for power outages in the state and people should not be deceived by rumors. Bhatt added that there is no shortage of coal in the state for power generation. Coal is available in adequate amounts in coal-based power plants.
Increased demand can be rooted as the cause of the situation, as well as a coal shortage caused by the monsoon. The state, however, has not had any power outages; an adequate power supply is also being provided to the farmers as per the requirement.
About 5 GSEC facilities have begun operation, with 10 more to follow, bringing the total number of GSEC plants online to ten. Bhatt explained that power is purchased from other states, and renewable energy generated by solar and wind is used during the day, while thermal and hydro energy is used at night.
Stating that the reports published on power shortage are different from the facts, he added that power is procured from various power stations located in the state as well as outside the state to meet the power demand. A sharp rise in international coal prices, limited availability of gas, and temporary technical reasons lead to the closure of GSEC power plants and have affected the power supply.
MT Sangada, Chief Engineer, MGVCL, and KB Dhebar, Additional Chief Engineer were present during the conference.
The state government and its power providers have taken all necessary efforts to temporarily address the situation, including moves to fully restore the power units that were shut down owing to technical issues.
