9 Trains and 10,776 stranded migrants sent back home from Vadodara in a week

The Vadodara District Collector was entrusted by the State Government with the tripartite coordination with the concerned States, Nodal Officers, and the Railway department to send stranded workers back to their home state through the special trains. Today a week after running special trains from Vadodara Railway station, 10,776 people have been sent back to their home states. Last night a train left for Prayagraj after midnight and another train is scheduled to leave for Darbhanga in Bihar and Gorakhpur in UP during the day.

 Nodal Officer Shri RP Joshi said that the district administration, police, health, and railway department have been functioning continuously for the last 7 days, and after swift co-ordination, a total of 9 trains have departed from Vadodara. Every officer and employee in this project are working daily for 12-14 hours.

Out of a total of 8 trains for Uttar Pradesh, 3 are sent to Lucknow, 3 Barabanki, 1 Jaunpur, and 1 Gorakhpur. One train to Katihar Bihar. Before the departure, all Shramik Trains were sanitized and cleaned thoroughly. 

So far a total of 10,776 passengers have been facilitated to reach their home state in 9 trains. Thus, a total of 9,561 people have reached UP and 1,215 people have reached Bihar.

As per the instructions of the District Collector, the Food Committee provided a humanitarian courtesy to provide 10,776 food packets and 21,552 water bottles to these migrants.

Vadodara district collector co-ordinated with neighboring district collectors of Chhotaudepar, Dahod, and Narmada to send back migrants staying at shelter camps in these respective districts.
