The State Government has initiated mobile veterinary clinics in each of the ten villages to treat animals. The Animal Husbandry Department in the Vadodara district has opened 17 such hospitals, undoubtedly a boon for animals and caregivers.
On Monday, Dr. Chirag Parmar and Pilot Tousif Pathan, associated with a Mobile Veterinary Hospital, were on their regular round of visits scheduled in the morning when they received a call from Ranubhai Thakor. Ranubhai Thakor, a resident from the Amareshwar village of the Dabhoi taluka, contacted the Mobile Veterinary Hospital for his buffalos’ sudden labor pain demanding urgent attention.
Dr. Chirag Parmar, during the treatment, found out that the delivery of the buffalo was more painful than usual, which is called dystocia. “It was Prepartum prolapse near delivery and was challenging for us as the calf was big. We controlled the prolapse; after hard work of two hours, we could safely complete the delivery. It was life-threatening for the calf as little delay would have led to death for both.” said Dr. Chirag.
Dr. Chirag shares that it was a rare delivery and the owner lauded the efforts of the team of doctors, the 1962 helpline, and MVD for their spontaneous response.
In Vadodara, to date, about 69,187 animals have been treated free of cost by the Mobile Veterinary Hospital, including 17,948 cases of a medical emergency, 33,346 cases of medicine supply, 13,022 cases of surgery, 2,909 cases of obstetrics, and 1,962 additional cases.
