In view of the fire incidents that happened inside Covid hospitals, the Vadodara administration organized a mock drill to check the preparedness of the staff in case of a similar emergency. The drill was organized inside the Gotri Covid hospital.
Gujarat witnessed fire incidents in Covid hospitals of Ahmedabad and Rajkot where patients under treatment lost their lives. In Baroda also fire was reported in SSG hospital but patients were shifted to safety in time by the fire brigade and administration. To avoid such incidents the administration needs to prepare themselves with regular training.
One such mock drill was organized inside the Gotri Covid hospital to check the preparedness of the staff in case of fire like an emergency. Around 400 staff members of the hospital joined the drill and safely shifted the patients from the ward to other designated covid hospitals.
“The mock drill was organized inside ICU 6 where five patients were there, two on room air, one oxygen mask, and one on a ventilator. After the incident, the ward in-charge and doctors tried to control the fire with the help of extinguishers and then gave alternate oxygen therapy to the patients. After that the central oxygen and electricity supply was cut off to stop the spread of fire and then transfer the patients to other hospitals in ICU on wheels ambulances, said Dr. Sheetal Mistry Nodal officer Gotri Covid hospital.
