NOTA (None of the above) is an important part of the election process, which enables the voter to officially register a vote of rejection for all candidates who are contesting. If a voter chooses to press NOTA on the EVM, it indicates that the voter has not chosen to vote for any party.
The main objective of the NOTA option is to enable electors who do not wish to vote for any of the candidates to exercise their right to reject without violation of the secrecy of their decision.
Atul Gamechi, a social activist in Vadodara wore a PPE kit to spread the message of NOTA at Gandhinagar Town Hall prior to the elections. He was spreading the message among the public so that people know their rights and the importance of NOTA in the local body election. At the Sama Mamlatdar’s office, Electoral Officer Niyati Utsav also provided detailed information regarding NOTA.
Voters could not vote for any one of the four candidates, especially when using NOTA. That is, the voter who wants to use this option will only have to press the button and register.
Barodians voted for the Mahanagarpalika Elections 2021 and as per the statistics, Vadodara recorded a 47.8% turnout this year, which is slightly lower than previous elections.
As per the records, a total of 13,390 people voted for NOTA this time in Vadodara.
