MSU will soon be under CCTV surveillance

The MS University of Baroda will be keeping an eye on the trouble makers with a centralized control room that will be up at the union pavilion building of MSU Students Union (MSUSU).

As per Apurva Shah’s (Director of MSU’s Computer Centre) statement: The CCTV Surveillance project will go ahead phase-wise. In the first phase, 130 CCTV cameras will be installed out of which 122 will be normal cameras while 8 will be able to recognize number plates which will be installed at entry-exit gates of the campus. The phase will be covering the main university campus which has the three major faculties such as Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Science. Along with these three, the Hall of Residence (Girls Hostel) and the union pavilion premises will also be covered.

A CCTV surveillance committee had been formed by MSU’s vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas in September. A survey of the campus was done and a feedback was taken from the university’s security and vigilance staff.
The CCTV surveillance for the first phase will cost nearly Rs30 lakh to the university. The university is hoping that it will be able to complete this project in the next 3 months.
