NAARI-Against Street Harassment

What?Street harassment is the topic which is always taken for granted because we have a tendency not to fall in unnecessary disputes. But due to such attitude things have grown to much higher dirty level and our streets are not safe enough for our girls to walk freely.Street harassment includes actions like eve teasing,whistling,following,forceful touching etc which are the initial steps of sexual harassment.

Everyone knows that Vadodara is a safe city and it is accepted that it really is safer  compared  to the cities like Delhi,Mumbai,pune etc, but we cannot deny that girls really can’t walk freely on the street and during public gathering. Yes it is not that they are just physically harassed but the activities like following on bikes,honking,staring etc makes the feel uncomfortable. Comparing our city with Delhi or any other metro cities and feeling proud for getting  tagline of “The safest city” doesn’t really make it so! It’s our duty to STOP STREET HARASSMENT !

How?Our motive behind campaign is to give impactful message which if changes the mind of even 5% people who came across this , we will be blessed and take this as the stepping stone towards the betterment of this city. We will be collecting as many real stories possible where girls faced street harrasment in Vadodara. For this we have embedded a form below where there is no need of mentioning the name as we just want to know what happened and where .Ground activities will included the collection of the stories from the women of slums in Vadodara who doesnt have acess to internet because we don’t want to keep any stone un-turned. Based on these stories one report will be made which will be shared to the higher officials. We will keep on updating the event page with educating graphics which will surely help us to change mindset of few people to an extend !

Result? This is an attempt where even if single person who is a street harasser changes his mind to get on the right track will be our route for future projects. And in a worst condition if nothing happens!! well atleast  we made an attempt where we are not losing anything and who knows we might inspire some other social activist to think upon this issue !

Note: Vadodara police has been informed about this campaign and we have no intention to blame anyone for this.
